On Friday 29th November, Year 5 were lucky enough to be visited by the charity 'Power2Inspire'. This charity focus on inspiring young people to achieve their goals through taking part in inclusive sport.

The children enjoyed a day of fun, thought-provoking activities and inclusive sports. We started with an assembly from the founder, John Willis, who explored “Overcoming Barriers” and  inspired questions from all of the children. Then the pupils were introduced to adapted games including boccia, new age kurling, goalball, and sitting volleyball. Emphasis was placed on teamwork, communication, kindness, respect, resilience and perseverance. All participants received a certificate and were given the opportunity to raise further questions, and the challenge to recall what they have learned.

John Willis is an amazing an inspiring individual, who was born without fully formed arms and legs. Using videos, gadgets, and demonstrations John personifies the “art of the possible”.  He addressed all aspects of daily life – including dressing, eating and driving. We were extremely lucky to have him visit our school and we hope to see him again in the future.
